Instructing Youngsters to Sew- Ideas & Concepts

On this video I share with you some ideas and concepts that I’m implementing as I train my 3 yr previous son to make use of the stitching machine he acquired for Christmas.

My son’s stitching machine: Kenmore 11206 (typically known as Mini Extremely).
May be discovered right here:

It’s the similar stitching machine as the favored Janome Whats up Kitty machine {http://amzn.to/VwLBFm} with out the Janome title. However after a lot analysis I found that Janome makes the newer Kenmore machines. So the machine we use is a Janome with the Kenmore title on it, principally. Both of those machines could be superb and be the identical factor.

I DO NOT advocate educating younger kids tips on how to sew simply primarily based on their age. Know your baby and ONLY train them to make use of a stitching machine whenever you suppose they’re prepared.

I think about a stitching machine an influence device and if you do not know what you might be doing you may injure your self fairly dangerous in case your fingers are available contact with the needle because it’s shifting. Please watch out and ALWAYS supervise any baby when they’re stitching on a machine.

My son may be very cautious and meticulous in what he does so, as a guardian I felt he was prepared to start studying the fundamentals. I hope this video will provide you with some concepts and ideas that it is possible for you to to include in your stitching classes with youngsters or occasion grownup newcomers.

Keep tuned for extra Stitching with Youngsters movies that I shall be engaged on sooner or later.

Issues coated on this video:
Winding a bobbin
Threading the machine
Stitching straight strains on muslin scraps
Placing in pins and eradicating them as he sews
Lifting presser foot up and down
Utilizing the hand wheel
Utilizing the foot pedal

  1. I love that you are teaching him this. I feel that a lot of parents are afraid to let their kids do real-world activities but they have to learn sometime! And you're right, it's good for them to practice being careful. Everyone gives me a hard time for letting my 3 yo use a real knife to help cut up the veggies for dinner but I figure I'd rather him learn to use it properly than to not learn- and obviously there is close supervision. 🙂

  2. Hello, My 9 year old is interested in learning to sew. Is there a sew machine that you would recommend for safety but not a play machine? Btw I don't know how to sew but I think your channel will be very helpful for her interests and to help me teach her. Thanks for all the videos, I'm about to binge watch 🙂

As a mother that raised 2 loving and respectful sons it's wonderful to see how you teach your child that sincerity and respect, there needs to be more parents like you so our world will be much better better place. I know your son is much bigger now and you have a beautiful daughter also. You and your husband are very blessed💛💙
